Wintery Wine Brownies

Did you know that chocolate and wine are made to go together?! So get ready for a nice relaxing night in or a party to attend or to host with these amazing wine brownies. This takes cooking wine to a whole different level!

Ingredients:

1/2 stick (1/4 cup) butter, melted (salted or unsalted)

2 large eggs

3/4 cup + 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/3 cup + 1 tablespoon cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4-2/3 cup red wine (sweet or dry)

Powdered sugar (for sprinkling)

Directions:

-Preheat oven to 350 F degrees

-Grease 9 X 13 " pan with cooking spray

* Use a smaller pan if thick brownies are preferred

-In a large bowl, mix together melted butter and eggs until foamy

-Slowly add in sugar until thick and light in color

-Stir in vanilla

-In a different bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and cocoa

-Add dry ingredients to wet and mix well until no chunks remain and batter is rich brown in color

-Pour in wine and mix well

*1/4 cup will be hardly detectable in taste, so go by how much wine flavor you prefer

-Pour batter into pan and spread evenly using a spatula

-Bake 15-18 minutes, until a toothpick can be inserted and removed clean

-Cool 5 minutes

-Sprinkle evenly with powdered sugar and let cool 10-15 minutes more

-Cut into squares and serve

-Enjoy!
