Shiny Bread Secrets- How to egg wash


Egg washes can be an important part to creating the perfect bake. Many breads and pastries require an egg wash for the perfect shine to your finished product. Challah, pies, buns, biscuits, etc. all require egg washes. An egg wash is simple, but often times recipes to do explain what to do.

Simply whisk 1-2 eggs in a small bowl, depending on the amount of bread or pastry being created. You may use the whole egg, just the yolk, or just the whites. Add in 1-2 tablespoons of your preferred liquid: water, milk, or cream. Once combined, paint a light coat of the wash over your bake, using a basting brush. Feel free to add topping suck as seeds, salt, or cinnamon at this point. Then pop it in the oven for a perfectly shiny treat!
